About us

XJTLU Library is playing the role as Research Support and Learning Center in XJTLU by following the latest development trends of other top university libraries around the world. As one of the divisions of the XJTLU Library, Collection Development Division contributes to the fulfilment of this mission by acquiring, cataloguing, arranging and giving bibliographic access to library materials and electronic resources.Collection Services handles the following specific responsibilities on behalf of the XJTLU Library:

  • Placing orders for print, electronic and audio-visual resources
  • Receiving and paying for materials and electronic resources
  • Managing serials subscriptions and licensing electronic resources
  • Cataloguing materials and electronic resources, either from copy or originally
  • Updating records in the catalogue
  • Providing authority control for the catalogue
  • Processing materials for placement in the library stacks

Cataloguing Unit

Collections Services staff catalogue materials in all formats for the XJTLU Library. Bibliographic records are created according to the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules, Second Edition, 2002 Revisio. Collection Services uses MARC 21 and has updated the tag chart to this standard.XJTLU Library using the Library of Congress Classification. In addition, some special rare collections, some journal collections, and some video collections at XJTLUL have unique classification systems or are not classified.We use Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) for all the materials in the XJTLUL.
