COURSE RESERVED & SHORT LOAN


Course Reserved

Course reserved is a term used in academic libraries to describe materials set aside for a specific academic course or other use. Most often materials are put on course reserved area by library staff at the request of the course's instructor.

 

How to Submit Course Reserved Books (Only for Instructors)

 

Processing Time

Book reserves are processed upon academic staffs' submission. Library staff processes book on a first-come, first-served basis. For best results, we suggest that you submit Reserve lists one month before the beginning of each semester.
Please note: Processing times are approximate and will vary depending on the time of the semester, the amount and availability of materials, and other factors. Library-owned materials needed for Reserves are often out on loan and must be recalled before they can be processed. This can cause significant delays. Although we are committed to making Course Reserve books available when needed, we cannot guarantee processing time.

 

For students (How to search the course reserved books)

Search the item on the library OPAC system. The location of the course reserved books is “Library Floor 3 - Course Reserved”.
Note call number of the item you want.
Request the item at the library's circulation desk. Only one item can be request at one time.

 

Tips for Getting the Items

The course reserved materials only can be read within library.
Please take your ID card to the Circulation Desk on the 3rd floor to get the item.
During your reading the item, your ID card needs to be placed in the Course Reserved Area.

 

Returning Items

The course reserved materials must be returned to the Circulation Desk on the 3rd floor during the day.
You can take away your ID card after returning the course reserved materials.

 

Short Loan

Library short loan area is to hold essential and optional textbooks in library which are in heavy demand.

Search the item on the library OPAC system. The location of the short loan books is “Library Floor 3 - Short Loan".
Note call number of the item you want.

 

Borrowing

  • Loan Period: 3 days
  • Renew: Short Loan items can be renewed online via Library Catalogue System, or you can go to the library circulation desk on the 3rd floor with the book that has to be renewed.
  • The renewal quota is: 5 for UG & Master students; Unlimited for staff and PhD students.
  • Overdue Fine: 0.2 RMB per item per day if no reservations from others; 0.5 RMB per item per day if the book is requested or reserved by some other patron.

 

Short Loan to General Collection

Note: Library staff in User Service Division will follow the frequency of short loan books , and reserve the right to convert short loan books to general books.
