The gentle rains of Jiangnan have nurtured a cultural legacy spanning millennium, and the city of Suzhou embodies a poetic charm that is uniquely its own. From antiquity to the present day, Suzhou has remained a symbol of 'poetry and distant dreams' in the hearts of writers and artists. Its depiction in classical poetry transcends mere literary expression, evoking images of white walls and black tiles, the mellifluous beauty of the Wu dialect and a timeless connection to traditional culture.

本期悦读会（总第41期）由西浦图书馆和工业园区图书馆携手打造，特别邀请到《诗意苏州》作者、苏州大学文学院杨旭辉教授。他将以书中诗词为钥，带领我们一起解读历代苏州诗词对于江南自然生态的描写、对岁时风俗的歌咏以及城市文脉的延续和城市精神的传承，感受诗意苏州的文化内涵和文化传承。

The 41st session of the Go Reading, co-hosted by XJTLU Library and the Suzhou Industrial Park Library, is honored to invite Professor Xuhui Yang from the School of Humanities at Soochow University, author of Poetic Suzhou. Drawing from the poems featured in his book, Professor Yang will guide us through an exploration of how Suzhou has been portrayed in classical poetry from its natural landscapes and seasonal customs to the enduring literary legacy and spirit of the city. Join us to explore the rich cultural connotations and enduring heritage that shape the poetic essence of Suzhou.

杨旭辉 教授

苏州大学文学院教授，博士生导师。长期从事中国古典文学与江南文化的教学与研究，致力于苏州文化的宣传推广， “书香苏州”代言人。

Xuhui Yang is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Chinese Language and Literature, Soochow University, with long-standing expertise in the research and teaching of Chinese classical literature and Jiangnan culture. He has been actively engaged in promoting Suzhou’s cultural heritage. He is also the officially appointed Cultural Ambassador for “Shuxiang Suzhou”.
