Online Learning @ LiVE
LiVE is an online learning platform providing a collection of information literacy tutorials to help you develop the skills necessary to find information in any format and to evaluate it critically. LiVE also offers you knowledge of referencing and publishing for your researches. In future, some research-led tutorials will be published to help you learn about selecting an appropriate journal for your manuscript and knowledge about copyright, intellectual property and scholarly communication technologies. View all courses and choose the modules you need.
LiVE is available on the web for all students and staff in XJTLU. University account is used for the login.

A series of workshops are offered to improve patrons’ information literacy competencies. Students can view and register the workshops on LibCal.
LibAnswers is a one-stop library reference service that provides a variety of way to find solutions about the Library by system or librarian.
Learning Commons
The Learning Commons are located on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of the Library. Sofas and study tables are located in the Learning Commons. Tens of thousands of books are shelved in the Learning Commons to support learning, teaching and research. A number of popular magazines and newspapers are also provided for leisure reading and relaxation.
Information Commons
Library Information Commons are located on the 4th and 5th floor of XJTLU Library. There are 174 Lenovo computers and 53 Apple computers. Staff members may reserve the information commons for teaching activities via XJTLU Room Booking System (http://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn/day.php). The reservation notification will be found at the entrance notice board. The Information Commons (Room 463,416,516,563,529) are available for library users, first-come-first-serve when no teaching activities are scheduled.
Group Study Room
Group Study Rooms (R314, R316, R318, R429, R445, R545, R547, R714 and R814) aim to provide students and staff space for group discussion within the Library upon booking. Each person can only book a room once a day. Booking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours for students and 6 hours for staff. Room booking can be done via Library Room Booking System (http://10.7.0.242:8080/Clientweb/xcus/IC2/default.aspx) and can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
Self-Printing, Copying and Scanning Area
Printers, Photocopiers and Scanners are available on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floor of the Library for both XJTLU students and staff. Instructions on the multifunctional printers are posted on the walls to help users get their printing/photocopying/scanning jobs done efficiently. For any printer problems, please contact the IT Service Desk on the 4th floor in the Library.
Training Room
Library Training Room 303 has 1 computer, 1 projector and 1 moveable whiteboard, with a capacity of 48 people. Reservation can be made via XJTLU Room Booking system by staff for teaching activities (http://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn/day.php).
Multi-Media Area
The Multi-Media Area is located at the center of the Library’s 3rd floor, 18 DVD players are available and open for all to use. Each desk has 1 DVD player and 1 earphone, enjoy your DVD time here.
Food and Drink and Discussion Allowed Area
The Food and Drink and Discussion Allowed Area is located on the 6th floor with relaxing furniture. This is the only area where food is allowed in the Library. It is also a popular area for students to have their team work and meeting for discussion.
Exhibition Area
Exhibition Area is available in the Library for the purpose of exhibition, including the entrance hall on the 1st floor, exhibition areas on the 3rd and 6th floor. There will be book fairs, art shows to be held in these areas, please pay attention to the Library notice if you would like join us in these events.
Interactive Commons
Interactive commons in Room 830 is furnished with comfortable seatings for cooperative group work.
Textbook and Publication Division(TPD) is a branch of XJTLU Library which is committed to handle textbooks and publication issues, this division aims to set up an efficient textbook service and also to facilitate the e-textbook and XJTLU copyright owned textbooks. Currently, TPD provides textbook purchase, distribution and fee settlement services for XJTLU staff and students, and also it supports to enhance university learning culture construction.

NOTE: Past Exam Papers, Newspapers, Current/Single issue of journals and Bound Journals are not for loan. They can only be used inside the Library. Past Exam Papers can also be accessed online through the Library Homepage. (Library preserves the exam papers of the last three years and is only responsible for the storing and releasing of these past exam papers but not responsible for explaining their contents or answering any other requests.) Library reserves the right to call back any book for special cases. The recalled books should be returned within 3 days after you receive a recall email by the Library.

3. Borrowing
Reserve Books
If all copies of the item you want to borrow are on loan, then you can use the Reservation Function in the Library Catalogue System to reserve the book. When you reserve a copy, you will be able to collect the first available copy of that item when it is returned to the library. The current user of the item will receive an email stating that the book has been reserved by another student. However, the current user of the book is not required to bring the book back to the library until the due date. A notification will be sent to the person who made the reservation when the book being requested has been returned. Please go to the circulation desk to check it out within 3 days, otherwise the reservation will be automatically cancelled. The reservation quota for each staff or students is 8.
• The item is NOT on loan.
• The item has already been checked out by you.
• The item is a non-circulating item such as past exam papers.
• You have already reached your reservation quota limit (8 items).
Renewing
Any borrowed item can be renewed online via Library Catalogue System, or you can go to the library circulation desk on the 3rd floor with the book that has to be renewed. Postgraduate Students and Undergraduate students are allowed 5 renewals on each item. Academic staff, Administrative staff, PHD students have unlimited renewal on borrowed books. The due date of the renewed book will be re-calculated from the renewed date.
Returning
Borrowed items can be returned at either self-service machines on the 1st, 4th, and 8th floor, or at the library circulation desk on the 3rd floor. For reserved books, CDs, DVDs, please return them to the library circulation desk on the 3rd floor.
Library will extend the Loan Period for items during summer and winter holidays in order to avoid any overdue fine (if you were out of the university and could not return the books).
Fines
0.2 RMB per item per day will be charged for any overdue item. Library users may not be allowed to borrow any books if there are unpaid fines in their account.
If the book on loan is requested or reserved by someone else, it should be returned by the due date. 0.5 RMB will be charged per item per day if the returning is delayed.
If the item on loan is lost,we encourage that a new book with the same or newer version should be purchased by the users themselves and 5 RMB will be charged to cover the cost for book processing. Or the user who lost the book shall pay the fine as twice the item’s value (the price of the book is shown in the Library Catalogue System).
