On June 27, 2020, after a 60-day intense competition, the second “Library Cup” Oral English Contest for College Students came to a close. It was hosted by the Reader Service and Reading Promotion Professional Committee, co-organized by Nanjing Agricultural University Library and co-sponsored by Nanjing Library Information and Technology Company, Beijing Jin'ai'er Technology Company.
2020年6月27日，经过六十天的激烈角逐，由江苏省高校图工委读者服务与阅读推广专业委员会主办、由南京农业大学图书馆承办、南京图情信息技术有限公司、北京金艾尔科技有限公司协办的第二届“图书馆杯”高校大学生英语口说大赛圆满落下帷幕。
A total of 9102 students from all over the province signed up to compete. Two students from XJTLU won second and third place. Zhangxu Chen from the International Business School of grade 18 won second place with 174.42 points, and Siqi Xue from the English Department of grade 17 won third place with 172.58 points. Library staff member Xiang Deng also won the reward for outstanding instructor. XJTLU Library organized and provided services throughout the competition and promoted learning, communication, and competition in oral English to improve their language ability.
本届大赛全省共有9102名学生报名参赛，我校有2名选手分别以总分174.42分获全省二等奖，以172.58分获全省三等奖，他们分别是18级国际商学院的陈章旭同学和17级英语系的薛思琪同学。西浦图书馆邓翔老师获得大赛优秀指导老师奖。西浦图书馆作为参赛单位全程组织联络、提供服务，齐心协力，真抓实干，促进读者之间基于英语口语的学习交流和竞技，提高读者英语应用的能力。
“I am pleasantly surprised by the result, and I consider it as a recognition of my Oral Speaking skills.” Said Zhangxu Chen, “The two-year EAP course at XJTLU has provided me with many opportunities to communicate with foreign professors. The course also helped me understand how native English speakers communicate with each other in a university environment, which greatly contributed to my success.”
荣获二等奖的陈章旭同学说：“这次的比赛结果让我十分惊喜，也是对我英语口语能力的一种认可。在西浦两年的EAP课程提供了很多与外教交流的机会，也让我一定程度上了解了真实的国外大学内的沟通方式，这对我此次获奖是功不可没的。
“Actually, it is out of my curiosity and interest to attend the English speaking contest based on the Internet environment. And I never expected to win a prize at first. Thankfully, the time I spent on correcting my pronunciation over and over again via MyET voice analyzer works. It not only improved my confidence to speak but also expanded my view toward language learning. I appreciate that the school library offered the opportunity for us to ‘voice out’ in a such meaningful way especially during the pandemic. Thank you very much！” Said Siqi Xue.
荣获三等奖的薛思琪同学表示：“出于对线上英语口说大赛的好奇和兴趣，我怀着平常的心态参加了这次比赛。幸运的是，通过MyET的语音分析技术反复校对自己的发音，我的自信得以提高。此外，我对学习语言有了新的认识和感悟。我想在此感谢学校图书馆为我们提供了这次机会，让我们在疫情期间可以用这种有意义的方式 "发声"，谢谢！”
