(3 p.m. March 20th, 2012) A book donation ceremony initiated by the Library Gloriette Foundation, one of the student organizations at XJTLU, was held on the fifth floor of Building 2. Vice President Minzhu Yang, University Librarian Xin Bi and several teachers and students were invited to participate in this ceremony.
Zhenjian Wu, the superintendent of the Gloriette Foundation, presented the development process of this community. He stated that the Gloriette Foundation ispractical public welfare organization made up of students using their own initiative, which is also one of the student associations under library instruction. This was the third time that the Gloriette Foundation have donated books to the library, and the books were funded by the Gloriette Auction --a voluntary project run by this association. The next plan for Gloriette Foundation is to register the second-hand market--Gloriette Auction as an official website to integrate and optimize resources further at XJTLU, which at the same time is beneficial for the long-term development of the association.
Zhenjian Wu believed that this book donation helps students turn their attentions from neglected books to printed materials in the electronic age, and discovers the road to success. At the same time, he also took this opportunity to let more people understand and pay attention to public welfare.
Vice President Minzhu Yang fully endorsed their idea and encouraged them to strive for XJTLU Foundation's support. He said: "XJTLU will endeavor to provide a platform for student development, and make more ideas come true.”
Vice President Yang indicated that this book donation activity advocated the school mission in XJTLU--cultivating responsible elites to families and society. The positive action of the Gloriette Foundation set an example to others, which will encourage more students to give something back to the community. A university depends on not only excellent teaching, but also needs of successive campus culture. "The number of donated books is limited today, but they play an invaluable role in students’ future career and personality development. He thanked these teachers and students for donation on behalf of XJTLU. ”
