Dear Patrons,
EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) (known as XJTLU Discover) has been a great research and learning partner for staff and students. In 2015, 181,482 sessions with average length 14.6 minutes were spent on Discover searching, as well as 179,619 full text articles were accessed, showing a significant increase compared with last year. The E-Journals platform, powered by EBSCO using A-to-Z publication browsing through the Library’s website, also enables users to easily find publications alphabetically by integrating most of the subscribed titles (journal level) in the platform. With the evolution of the web and new search technologies, this way of browsing is a thing of the past.
Now, A-to-Z is going to be upgraded to Full Text Finder (FTF). At a glance, FTF delivers a modern and intuitive experience by providing:
· Easily searching for publications – When searching for a publication, the responsive auto-complete feature enables FTF to anticipate what a user is looking for, eliminates the need to navigate through an antiquated alphabet directory.
· Discipline-specific browse – Go through a list of discipline-specific titles to choose any given publication.
· Search “within” a journal – Once a user find the journal, just click to search for articles within that specific title.
· Seamless Discovery Integration – A single search box for users to explore the catalogue, articles and publications. The state-to-art linking can get users directly to the full text without traditional linker menus.
The migration from A-to-Z to FTF was initiated at the beginning of January 2016 and will last for one month. The implementation timeline is shown as below.
