11月6日，由西浦图书馆和西浦读者协会共同举办的本学期第三期（总第33期）悦读会成功开展。本期活动由图书馆馆员茅文沛作为主讲人，分享的书目是《东南园墅》。

On November 6, the third session (the 33rd overall) of this semester's reading event, collaboratively organized by the XJTLU Library and the XJTLU Readers' Association, was successfully conducted. The speaker for this session was Wenpei Mao, a member of the library staff, who presented insights from the book "Glimpses of Gardens in Eastern China".

活动伊始，主讲人先从苏州开始介绍，指出苏州在江南中极高的文化地位和“上有天堂，下有苏杭”的说法，从而正式进入对苏州传统私人园林的介绍。通过展示苏州园林的美景，主讲人进入了对苏州园林设计理念的探讨。正如书中所说，苏州园林的设计理念不仅包含了儒家与道家的思想，更结合了传统诗文与“移步换景”的核心设计思路。因此，苏州园林发展出了假山、水景、绿植等独特的设计要素。为了便于理解，主讲人接着将苏州园林与西式园林设计进行对比，从设计哲学、设施陈设和功能设施等角度彰显出苏州园林的独特性。在这之后，主讲人通过展示和介绍具体的苏州园林，具体地讲解了如何欣赏苏州园林。

At the outset of the event, the speaker commenced with an introduction to Suzhou, emphasizing its esteemed cultural status in The Jiangnan Area(namely the Yangtze River Delta region) and referencing the adage "Heaven above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below," thereby formally transitioning into a discussion on traditional private gardens in Suzhou. Through showcasing the aesthetic appeal of these gardens, the speaker delved into an exploration of their design philosophy. As noted in the book, this design philosophy not only encompasses Confucian and Taoist principles but also integrates traditional poetry and literature with the core concept of "changing scenery with every step." Consequently, Suzhou gardens have evolved distinctive design elements such as artificial hills, water features, and lush greenery. To enhance comprehension, the speaker subsequently contrasted Suzhou gardens with Western garden designs, elucidating their uniqueness from various perspectives including design philosophy, layout arrangements, and functional attributes. Following this comparison, specific examples were presented to illustrate how one can appreciate these exquisite gardens.

值得一提的是，本次悦读会引入了“与西浦AI共读”的环节。在这一环节中，同学们借助西浦AI，更加系统性地了解了苏州园林的各类特征，并使用西浦AI图像生成功能 “身临其境”地设计和体验了属于自己的苏州园林景观。此外，本次悦读会还吸引到了国际学生Hillary的参与，她表示：“这次活动不仅让我深入了解了苏州各园林的悠久历史，还详细阐述了中式园林设计与西式园林之间存在的文化差异。最令我兴奋的是，我们运用所学知识，尝试使用西浦AI生成我们心中的‘梦幻花园’图像，并与新结识的朋友们一起分享这些充满创意的作品，整个过程既充满乐趣又富有意义。”

It is worth noting that this reading session introduced the "Reading with XJTLU AI" part. In this part, students, with the aid of XJTLU AI, gained a more systematic understanding of various characteristics of Suzhou gardens. They also made use of the image generation function of XJTLU AI to design and experience their own Suzhou garden landscapes in an immersive way during the lecture. Meanwhile, this reading session was fortunate to attract the international friend Hillary. She said:” This event not only helped me learn the history of different gardens in Suzhou, but explained the key cultural differences between Chinese garden design compared to Western gardens. It was fun to use our knowledge to try creating a prompt for XIPU AI to generate an image of our own “dream garden”, and to share our images with our new friends.

此次精彩纷呈的悦读会在热烈的氛围中缓缓落下了帷幕。虽然活动告一段落，本次活动也已在参与者的心中种下了苏州园林美学和传统文化的种子。相信在未来某一天，这颗种子也会生长为一颗文化的参天巨树，支撑着每位参与者和阅读者的心灵世界。

The splendid reading event gracefully drew to a close amidst an atmosphere of warmth and enthusiasm.
