2026 年 9 月 22 日下午，西交利物浦大学图书馆联合苏州工业园区图书馆与西浦读者协会成功举办 “悦读会·名家进校园” ——《太湖故事》新书分享会。本期活动特邀茅盾文学新人奖得主、苏州大学文学院房伟教授担任主讲嘉宾，与西浦师生共同探讨太湖的生态保护与人文传承。

On the afternoon of 22 September 2026, XJTLU Library, in partnership with Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Library and the XJTLU Readers' Association, successfully hosted the "Go Reading · Masters on Campus" event — a book sharing session for Stories of Taihu. The event featured Professor Fang Wei, winner of the Mao Dun Literature Newcomer Award and professor in the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Soochow University, as the guest speaker. He explored ecological conservation and cultural inheritance of Taihu Lake with XJTLU students and faculty.

活动伊始，房伟教授围绕新作《太湖故事》及其姊妹篇《太湖万物生》展开分享。结合多次走访西山岛的经历，他解读太湖生态岛独有的 “隐秀文化”，介绍南渡移民历史与洞庭商帮传统，从古碑乡约讲到民间护樟往事，阐释古人敬畏自然的生态智慧。他提到，太湖生态岛建设自纳入江苏省“十四五”规划纲要以来，太湖生态岛正朝着世界级生态岛稳步迈进。

At the beginning of the event, Professor Fang gave a talk centered on his new book Stories of Taihu and its companion volume Life Abounds in Taihu Lake. Drawing on his repeated visits to Xishan Island, he interpreted the distinctive "hidden elegance" culture of Taihu Ecological Island. He introduced the history of southward migration and the tradition of the Dongting merchants, and recounted stories from old steles and village covenants to local efforts to protect ancient camphor trees, illustrating the ecological wisdom of the ancients in revering nature. He also mentioned that since the construction of Taihu Ecological Island was included in the outline of Jiangsu Province's 14th Five-Year Plan, it has been steadily advancing toward becoming a world-class ecological island.

房伟教授穿插碧螺春典故、金庸与太湖的文学联结，讲述自己深入太湖各地走访采风的创作经历。他表示，文学创作不能仅凭想象，必须扎根现实生活，捕捉普通人的悲欢坚守，才能写出打动人心的作品。

Professor Fang Wei interwove the story of Biluochun tea and the literary connections between Jin Yong and Taihu as he recounted his field trips across various parts of the Taihu Lake region. He emphasized that literary creation cannot rely solely on imagination, it must be rooted in real life and capture the joys, sorrows, and perseverance of ordinary people, so that writers may produce works that touch the hearts of readers.

互动问答环节，同学们围绕现实议题积极提问。针对生态文旅开发如何平衡保护与发展，房伟教授提出科技可成为生态 “保护膜”，消解人为活动的无心伤害，实现人与自然共生。面对民间采风访谈的沟通难题，他以自身被村民误解的亲身经历说明：采访没有捷径，唯有以真心换信任，才能打捞乡土深处珍贵的口述记忆。

During the Q&A session, students actively raised questions on real-world issues. On how to balance conservation and development in eco-cultural tourism, Professor Fang proposed that technology can serve as a protective shield for the ecology, mitigating unintended human impacts and fostering coexistence between humanity and nature. Regarding the communication challenges of fieldwork interviews in rural areas, he shared his own experience of being misunderstood by villagers, explaining that there are no shortcuts in interviewing: only by exchanging genuine sincerity for trust can one retrieve precious oral memories from the depths of rural life.

活动中特别设置了赠书仪式。房伟教授向西交利物浦大学图书馆赠予其新作《太湖故事》，西浦图书馆副馆长滕超女士接受赠书并致谢。在活动尾声，提前预约并到场的读者也获赠该书，并获得房伟教授亲笔签名。全体观众合影留念，现场氛围温馨浓厚。

A book donation ceremony was also held during the event. Professor Fang Wei presented his new book, Stories of Taihu to the XJTLU Library, with Ms. Teng Chao, Deputy University Librarian of XJTLU Library, accepting this gift and expressing appreciation. At the conclusion of the event, readers who registered in advance and attended also received a complimentary copy of the book and had the opportunity to obtain Professor Fang’s autograph. A group photo captured the warm and inspiring atmosphere.

一湖山水，半部江南。本次悦读会带领师生徜徉江南风物，读懂人与自然相依相生的生态智慧。西交利物浦大学图书馆将持续打造高品质阅读活动，传承地域文脉，以书香涵养精神，厚植校园人文沃土。

One lake and its hills make up half of Jiangnan. This event led students and faculty to wander through the landscapes and culture of Jiangnan, uncovering the ecological wisdom of humans and nature depending on and nurturing each other. XJTLU Library will continue to develop high-quality reading programs, carry forward the region's cultural heritage, nourish the spirit through the culture of reading, and cultivate a rich humanistic soil on campus.
