The 11th Researcher Academy Symposium was successfully held at the SIP Campus on May 7, 2025. Organized by the XJTLU Library, this symposium brought together scholars at different research stages to share valuable insights and strategies for high-impact publishing. The event featured two distinguished speakers: Professor Fei Ma from the Department of Applied Mathematics, former Associate Vice President (Research and Impact) of XJTLU, and Mr. Lok Hang Cheung, a PhD candidate from the Department of Architecture and recipient of the 1st Prize in the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education Scholarship (2024). Under the theme "Strategizing Your Path to High-Impact Publishing," the symposium provided actionable advice on navigating competitive academic landscapes, leveraging institutional resources, and decoding research metrics to enhance visibility and career growth.
Professor Fei Ma delivered a speech titled "Sustaining Academic Influence in a Dynamic Publishing World." He stressed that in today's competitive academic landscape, quality research alone is insufficient - strategic dissemination is essential. He also analyzed three major challenges: the 90% rejection rate at top-tier journals, rising open-access publication costs, and the tension between preprint platforms and traditional evaluation systems. Professor Fei Ma provided practical solutions, recommending tools like Altmetric for impact tracking and social media for research visibility, while stressing the importance of maintaining academic integrity.

"Don't just research for publications - ask if your work creates real value," >Mr. Lok Hang Cheung advised. He shared his personal journey of integrating AI with architectural design, which led to multiple international conference presentations and a forthcoming book chapter.

The symposium also featured a Q&A session where scholars engaged in in-depth discussions with the audience, addressing questions about academic publishing, metric interpretation, and resource utilization. The Researcher Academy Symposium provided researchers with a valuable platform for exchange, empowering them to achieve greater success on the international academic stage. The next scholarly communication event is scheduled for October 2025, and the library looks forward to your participation.
